Silicone

Silicone, or chemically more accurate poly(organo)siloxane, is a name for a group of synthetic polymers in which silicon atoms are bound to oxygen atoms. The name ‘silicone’ was first introduced at the beginning of the 20th Century by the English chemist Frederic Stanley Kipping (1863 - 1949).
