Solvent based adhesives
Solvent based adhesives
Solvent based adhesives use resin or rubber dissolved in solvent as the binding agent. The transition from a fluid processing state to the fixed final state takes place through evaporation or diffusing the solvent. Because of their good bonding properties, solvent-based adhesives can be used for many types of wood flooring including more exotic woods. However, there are health hazards when using solvent-based adhesives: Between 60 and 90 per cent of the adhesive is volatile and emitted to the environment. For this reason - as well as the fact that they are easily flammable—we recommend substituting solvent-free products wherever possible.
