A “new centre” was envisioned – and after much planning, demolition of the gymnasium and primary school and just about eighteen months of construction time and twelve million euros spent, the grand opening of the H-plus Carré took place on 8 September 2020. The area comprises around 22 000 square metres of floor space overall, with almost 3 500 of these occupied by the Carré. In addition to several clothing shops, customers will find a drugstore and a discount store. The town of Herdorf has also built a new gymnasium on this site.
Optimal laying and a healthy indoor climate with STAUF D 50
A brief review: Towards the end of August 2020, the Konradi GmbH, Rösrath, floor layers were busy in the new branches of KiK and K+K, preparing the substrate for laying of design floors and needle felt. They to this end formed two teams that worked in parallel. The STAUF XP 20 self-levelling compound, mixed in a bucket with clean, cold water, allowed levelling out uneven areas of 1 to 20 millimetres in a single operation. The cement-based levelling compound is suitable for use under textile coverings as well as for parquet flooring and is characterised by its excellent levelling – and what’s more, it will be ready for installation after about 16 hours. Team number one will, after preparation of the substrate, get down to installing the desired vinyl flooring: They will be laying 650 square metres of Gerflor Scala 55 flooring. The flooring experts will rely on STAUF D 50 when installing the design floor: this fibre reinforced dispersion adhesive is characterised by stable adhesive grooving and will ensure that the vinyl remains dimensionally stable. This in turn will reduce gaps and deformation, especially important for desig flooring. D 50 is also solvent-free and emissions are very low – protecting not only the Konradi GmbH floor installer, but also ensuring employees and customers of a healthy indoor climate.
STAUF D 8 saves time when installing needle felt
350 square metres of Objectflor’s Expona design floor are simultaneously laid in the K+K Schuhmarkt shoe store, again using STAUF D 50. Some areas will also receive a needle felt covering: Because this material is very robust, it is popular as flooring in highly frequented rooms. Here, STAUF D 8 was the preferred choice: The hard-elastic adhesive ridge of this dispersion adhesive counteracts shrinkage of linoleum and textile coverings and high initial adhesion facilitates installing the needle felt. This STAUF product is also a preferred ecological choice – D 8 is solvent-free and very low in emissions. Thanks to rapid strength development and the resulting rapid load capacity, the wet bed adhesive also saves time for everyone involved. And time is vital: Acceptance is scheduled for just two days later. However, the planning is going well – the craftsmen can hand over the construction site on schedule. Even after completion of the work, Konradi GmbH remains a reliable contact for its clients, emphasises authorised signatory and plant manager Mark Schilling. “Our focus is on long-term cooperation with our contract customers. Both sides should have the good feeling that they can rely on each other.” In addition to the branch in Rösrath, Konradi GmbH also has an office in Wissen. The company was founded in 1949 and is now already in the hands of the third generation of the family. The core business comprises interior finishing, drywall construction and painting work, with flooring to complete the portfolio. Konradi has a staff contingent of 50 and the company’s fleet comprises 17 vehicles with individual configuration.
